Energy Efficient Insulation Installations

Insulation is a fabric measure, which is used to seal the building and retain the heat within your property.

We provide multiple insulation measures, depending on each property's eligibility via the government grant schemes.

Loft Insulation- This is usually wool loft insulation roll, which is rolled out in-between joists in the property's loft, and cross-laid to provide full coverage and government-set required depths.

Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)- This is foam backed battens that are fixed to the walls at set intervals, we then friction fit the IWI between each batten to ensure full coverage of the wall. We then install a Vapour Control Layer (VCL) which allows the wall to release moisture. Finally, we then cover with plasterboards and seal the edges with an airtight sealant, before plastering.

Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI)- This is installed via a series of drill holes, which fills the cavity between each wall with expanding polystyrene beads, the wall is then sealed with mortar to prevent the beads escaping. Once completed this retains the heat. It’s important to note that this method is subject to survey and pre-approval from the IAA.

Underfloor insulation is also available but very minimal on the government schemes currently available.

Both GBIS and ECO4 cover insulation measures, if eligible then customers will receive these completely free of charge and depending on the scheme sometimes in conjunction with other heating measures.

The types of insulation available are loft insulation, internal wall insulation and cavity wall insulation. Unless we need to specify products in which case we do not change specification.

This would be discussed as part of your property’s retrofit survey. Also, an existing EPC may recommend installation or a top-up of the current insulation measures.

Insulation can last up to 80 years, where advised, but the warranty is usually 25 years from the manufacturers.

By retaining the heat and keeping the rooms to a certain temperature insulation can help prevent moisture issues.

However, this is also supplemented in the scheme with ventilation measures such as extractor fans and trickle vents.

The fresh air coming into the property and the removal of polluted air helps prevent moisture issues.

Installing insulation measures reduces carbon emissions and energy bills as they reduce heat loss and maintain indoor temperatures. This reduces your reliance on heating systems, therefore reducing usage and the bills associated.

Loft insulation usually takes half a day to install.
IWI takes between 3-5 days to install.
CWI usually takes half a day to install.
